New patients are always welcome to join our practice. Once you have booked your initial appointment, we will send you a welcome pack. This pack contains information about the practice and the services we offer, together with details of our fees and payment options.

We will ask you to fill out a medical form in order to get to know a bit more about you. It is important to complete this form because your dentist needs to know about your general health and any medications you are taking, as this may impact on your dental health and the treatment we provide.

What happens at my first appointment?

The dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums and surrounding structures, including checking the condition of any existing restorations such as crowns and fillings. They will also provide oral cancer checks and evaluate your jaw joints.

We may also take x-rays. These are to check for:

  • Decay inside the teeth or under existing fillings and crowns
  • Infections or cysts on the roots of your teeth
  • Positions of the roots and wisdom teeth
  • Bone loss from around the teeth

After your initial consultation with the dentist, they will discuss their findings with you. If any treatment is deemed necessary, you will be provided with a treatment plan and have the opportunity to discuss all available options. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Before finalising a treatment plan, we will give you time to think through your options, having provided you with enough information to make an informed choice about your treatment. We will also discuss fees and payment options, including the opportunity to join Denplan, which offers a wide range of benefits including worldwide emergency cover.
